The Big Chill
We love it! The Big Chill gets bigger and hotter. Oh yes, just the way we like it. A paper cup of Medium cider, good company, a stonking variety of music and bizarre stuff to keep the mind pulsing all topped off with the burning of a giant wooden zombie. We dare not ask for more. Hello to all the friendly and strange people (Silver Spoon?) we meet over the weekend the best bits will be in the next issue.
23-09-09
Poster update: The poster is now complete for Issue05. It has been kindly completed by the legend that is Monsta you can see a sneak peak on his blog: http://monsta.over-blog.com There's also some other gems on there. The other side will remain a mystery until the zine release. In the mean time we are finalising layouts, printing and adverting. So theSNT05 shouldn't be long away now. Also, I hope to catch many of you at the UOP Media Arts festival this weekend.

DMT HARD SESSION
Lakota filled to celebrate 10 years of DMT RAVE. What a banging night, what a system! Plenty of rooms all rocking out their own dutty beats and an amazing atmosphere. Too many DJs to mention. Good times, Happy flippin Birthday!
12 - 11 -2009
Battle Stations 2nd Birthday!
Their second year was marked with an interesting 2 v 2 Bboy format. The night was supported by a good turn out with many MCs stepping up to batle. The graff battle was won by Onion with a sick piece (image soon!). Topped off by big prizes, sweets and a of course some dope cake.

Prime Skatepark (Plymouth)
A dusty opening day at the Prime skatepark in Plymouth was enjoyed by all, with snow falling outside it seems like the place to skate this winter. There are some amazing pieces on the walls as the result of late night painting sessions. A massive BIG UP goes out to everyone involved in making this a reality. Full feature in the next issue.
12 - 12 - 2009
Downhill Skateboarding in Exeter.
It may not be the weather for it, but you can't stop some people. This was the first race of it's type in the region (I think).

Sorry if anyone within the last ten
days has had any problems with the
website. The webmail and website
server which hosts the
strangenewtimes went down, and
unfortunately some data from part

We are sorry for the inconvenience

the summer is soon upon us!

thrills from the Surf comp
with a $100,000 prize fund

course lots and lots of stalls and stickers. The music this year also seems to be a prime line up with beach side gigs at The fistral (with the likes of The British Sea Power, Rodney P and The Nextmen and local favorite Seth Lakemean) and gigs at Watergate Bay (Groove Aramada, Morcheeba and The Zutons Fri 8th and The Pigeon Detectives, The Futureheads and The Rifles Sat 9th.) To name just a few it shaping up to be one hell of an event.

Secret Wars at UPFEST
theStrangeNewTimes put together the magazine for this years UPFEST to raise money for NACOA. It was an awesome event with 200 artists coming from all over the world to paint together on a MASHUP theme. There where some mad collaborations and the vibe from everybody was amazing. Check the extras page to see more samples from the magazine, displaying work from just some of the artists painting at the festival.
Breakestra & Chali 2na, the Hippo, Plymouth
What an inspired performance from the LA 10 piece ska funk band Breakestra, and a stroke of genius having Chali 2na (J5) as their guest. The night warmed up with a set from Lack Of Afro to get the heads nodding. From the first saxophone blasts to senous keyboard palying the crowd knew they where in for a special night. With Chalie 2na whipping up the room into a frenzy of sweaty (it was the Hippo) dancing with his buttery verses, the whole band let loose with some of the freshest soul grooves and the maddest range of instrumentation you could hope for. Superb!
